A Bit About Me

I’ve loved words for as long as I can remember. I read every minute I could as a child, often hiding a book on my lap at the dinner table so I could keep reading. Word games like Boggle and Banangrams were my favorites on family game night. I wrote my first short story at the age of ten, a riveting and definitely plagiarized sequel to the book Pollyanna (featuring a long-lost twin sister, Annapolly, who played the mad game instead of the glad game).   This love of words eventually led me to the editing and publishing program at Brigham Young University. This unique program has given me thorough training in every aspect of editing and publication, including writing, substantive editing and copyediting, proofreading, typesetting, and design. The classes I’ve taken have given me hands-on experience and allowed me to focus on various topics, like technical editing and freelancing.   The editing and publishing program also led me to several internships, where I gained skills and experience in editing. As an editor at the Religious Studies Center, I copyedited and proofread academic articles and nonfiction work. Then as an editor for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I substantive edited, copyedited, and proofread dozens of works, from blog posts to web pages to museum exhibit materials. These experiences gave me opportunities to hone an eye for detail, work closely with authors, and become a flexible and efficient editor.   My love of words continues to drive me in my editing. I enjoy working on projects in a variety of styles and genres, helping writers reach out and communicate with their audience in a meaningful and engaging way. This passion, combined with my training and experience, allow me to provide professional editing to meet the needs of any document.
